Why should your have a colour palette for marketing?

A colour palette is important for your brand guidelines, as it indicates to all members of the club what colours you want to use in your marketing material. It means that the documents, website and adverts will always have the same colours and therefore, will look professional. By including these within your brand guidelines there will always be a reference for anyone new within your club.

What is a hex code?

A hex code is a six digit code with a hash tag at the start. The hex code is specific to each shade of colour and displays the specific colour.

How do I find the hex codes of my rugby club kit?

Firstly find a clear image of your rugby kit, ideally the kit will be a on a clear background. Go to the website: https://html-color-codes.info/colors-from-image/ and click the upload button in the top left hand corner of the screen. Your picture will now appear on the screen. Use your mouse to find the colour of the kit that you want to use and then when the colour appears click the screen. The hex code will appear at the bottom of the page and copy the code. Repeat the process until you have obtained all the colours from the picture.

How do I use Coolors.co ?

Go to Coolors.co and click start the generator for free. There is a tutorial to watch however, it is quite straight forward to use. Go to the first colour column and go to the bottom and click the hex code. Paste in the hex code that you have obtained from the picture, then click the padlock. This will mean the column will not change its colour as we go through the process of choosing your hex codes. Repeat the process for the number of hex codes you have. However, you may only have two, three or four hex codes. Therefore, click the space bar and the empty colour’s will change. Choose the colours that fit with your kit colours and lock them in. Once you have the colours click export on the top right and then click png. This will download your colour palette.
